WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 4, 2022) – The House has passed the “America Creating Opportunities for Manufacturing Pre-Eminence in Technology and Economic Strength (America COMPETES) Act” (text; fact sheet; section-by-section). The $350 billion technology research and innovation package would provide $45 billion to bolster domestic supply chains and manufacturing efforts. The bill’s Senate counterpart, the “U.S. Innovation and Competition Act of 2021”, passed in June. The two bills now go to a House-Senate conference committee, where a series of policy differences must be reconciled before the bill can move forward.
